Dr. James W. Bartley, Jr. is the Director
of the Hispanic Leadership Training Center in Waco, Texas,
United States, which is a part of the Baptist University of
the Americas (Hispanic) located in San Antonio, Texas. He
also teaches a Bible class and he is a pastor of the
Hispanic Baptist Mission "Agape" of the Columbus Baptist
Church in Waco, Texas.

Born in 1927, the eighty-year-old retired professor of
theology has worked for many years as a missionary to
Uruguay. Dr. Bartley had a B.S. degree in Chemical
Engineering from Auburn University, Alabama, in 1948, and
later a Bachelor of Divinity in 1951, Master of Theology in
1965 and Doctor of Theology in 1972, all from the Baptist
Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. He served primarily
as a Professor of Theology at the Uruguayan Baptist
Theological Seminary, Uruguay, and as a Baptist Missionary
to Uruguay until his retirement.
Dr. Bartley has also served as a guest professor of theology
in Spain, Argentina and Mexico and was also a guest editor
at the Spanish Baptist Publishing House in Texas. He is
presently spending his retirement from professorial work by
directing and teaching at the Hispanic Leadership Training
Center, Waco, Texas, where is also a pastor at a Baptist
church. Dr. Bartley’s hobbies are beekeeping and playing
tennis.
